Tasty Veggies?
I admit it. I am a very picky eater. In fact, if something looks like it won’t taste good I won’t try it. Sadly, most veggies to me look like they will taste like cardboard. And they usually do.
What does this mean? I had never tried salad until I was 21. Prepared the right way, salad is actually pretty good. It’s now taken me almost 29 years to try squash. And you know what? Prepared the right way, it’s pretty tasty.
My wife just received her certification to be a Personal Fitness Chef. This new service will be available soon, and can literally change the way you look at food. It can change the way your kids look at food; heck, it’s already changing the way I look at food. Let’s face it, most kids would rather have pizza than veggies, and I’m right there with ‘em. But, if we can find a way to “sneak” veggies in, like adding them to something you know they already like, they’ll develop a taste for something new, without the begging and bribing!
Armed with the right recipe, we can include foods we normally wouldn’t think of eating, and have a great tasting meal that nourishes the body and help control body weight.
Often, and to her frustration, my wife knows first-hand what it’s like to get me to eat something other than a buffalo burger. Tonight, she tried something different. Below is a picture of the citrus chicken-stuffed acorn squash she made, in the hopes I’d be too exhausted from racquetball to notice the “green stuff”. To her shock, (and mine) I actually liked it.
Pictured below is what Fitness Chef Sarah prepared for dinner tonight. Acorn squash with chicken, celery, onions, and a side (not pictured) of whole wheat couscous. A certified cook for a wife? Now that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout…
